Appeal following shooting in Camberwell

Detectives from the Trident Gang Crime Command are appealing for witnesses and information following a shooting in Camberwell.

Police were called shortly after 01:00hrs on Friday, 22 July to reports of shots heard around the Brandon Estate, SE5.

A few minutes later there were reports of a man shot in Camberwell New Road, SE5.

Officers attended Camberwell New Road, SE5 and found a 22-year-old man, suffering from gunshot wounds to his abdomen.

He was taken to a south London hospital in a serious but stable condition. His injuries are not being treated as life threatening.

At this early stage it is believed the man may have been shot in John Ruskin Street, SE5.

There have been no arrests at this time. Enquiries continue.

Officers from the Trident Gang Crime Command are investigating.
