Appeal after sexual assault in Blackheath

Police are appealing for information and witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted on Blackheath Common by a man in a long Puffa-style coat who was riding a black bicycle with thick tyres.

The woman, who is aged in her 50s, was assaulted by the man as she walked across the common at approximately 04:45hrs on Saturday, 9 March.

Officers from the South East Command Unit are investigating. There has been no arrest at this stage.

The suspect is described as a white man, possibly aged in his 20s. He is around 5ft 6ins to 5ft 11ins in height, of slim build and wearing a long black Puffa-style jacket. He was riding a black bicycle with thick tyres.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to the call them via 101 quoting CAD 1496/09MAR. To remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

They are also asking drivers who may have dashcam footage showing the cyclist to contact them.
