Appeal after shots fired in Ilford

Officers are appealing for information and witnesses following a firearms discharge in Ilford.

Police were called at 14:02hrs on 13 December to Green Lane, Ilford following reports of shots fired.

Officers attended with specialist firearms colleagues.

A vehicle is believed to have pulled up alongside another vehicle. A man then got out and fired several shots, hitting the driver’s side door, before getting back in. Both vehicles then fled.

Specialist firearms officers carried out an area search. They located one of the vehicles believed to be involved and a pursuit followed; a number of males decamped and fled.

Officers gave chase but they could not be located.

There were no reported injuries.

At this stage there have been no arrests.

The Met's Trident and Area Crime Command investigate, led by Detective Sergeant Colin Hill.
