Appeal after woman attacked in Croydon

Police are appealing for information following a sexual assault which took place in the early hours of New Years’ Day.

A woman, aged in her 20s, reported that she had been walking alone along Park Street, Croydon at around 03:00hrs on Tuesday, 01 January when she was approached by a man.

He then dragged her into an alleyway and pushed her to the floor before attempting to remove her tights.

The victim managed to kick the suspect away and he then fled the scene on foot taking with him the victim’s mobile phone and handbag.

It is believed that the suspect travelled to St George’s Walk and Barclay Road, Croydon shortly after the incident.

The man is described as white, between 30-40 years of age, of slim build and with shoulder length dark hair.

He is thought to have a south London accent and was wearing a black hooded top at the time of the incident.
