Officers from the Met's Roads and Transport Policing Command investigating an unprovoked assault on a bus driver have released images of a man they want to trace.

The victim was attacked on board a Route N279 bus after parking at its terminating stop outside South Africa House in Trafalgar Square, WC2, in the early hours of 2 December 2018.

The suspect was asleep on the upper deck when the bus went out of service.

The 55-year-old driver went to wake the suspect, and was then pushed and punched in the face; he suffered facial injuries.

No arrest has been made, and officers are now releasing CCTV stills of a man they want to identify and speak to.

He is described as aged in his 30s, with short black hair and a beard.

Anyone who recognises the man or with information is asked to contact the RTPC Reactive Crime Team by calling police on 101 quoting reference 1769/02DEC18, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
