Appeal following fatal collision, Rainham

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Rainham.

Officers were called by the London Ambulance Service at around 07:10hrs on Wednesday, 11 May to reports of a collision between a car and a cyclist at Rainham Road junction with Sowrey Avenue.

The car was travelling north at the time of the collison.

The London Ambulance Service attended and the 58-year-old male cyclist was taken to hospital.

He remained in hospital in a critical condition until his death on Sunday, 15 May at 13:51hrs.

Next of kin have been informed and the deceased has been formally identified.

He is Christopher Holt, 58 (19.12.57) from Hornchurch.

A post mortem was held at Queen's Hospital Mortuary and cause of death was a pulmonary embolism.

The female driver of the car - a blue Toyota Rav 4 - stopped at the scene. She has not been arrested and continues to assist police with their enquiries.

Officers from the Roads and Transport Policing Command based at Chadwell Heath Traffic Garage investigate.
