News   •   May 10, 2018 05:30 BST

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in east London

Shortly after 23:00hrs on Friday, 20 April, a car - believed to be a black Mercedes E Class - collided with a pedestrian on Bethnal Green Road, close to Shoreditch High Street, E1.

The driver failed to stop.

The 23-year-old pedestrian was taken by the London Ambulance Service to an east London hospital for treatment. She has since been discharged.

Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating.

They would like to speak with anyone who saw the collision, or the Mercedes leaving the scene. It is thought that the car had more than one occupant and that the driver was familiar with the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8597 4874.

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
