Appeal following 'smash and grab'

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following two 'smash and grabs' in Westminster.

Police were called to a clothing store on Regent Street at 01:30hrs on Tuesday, 14 November to reports that 10 suspects on five scooters had smashed the window before entering the shop.

A member of security was threatened with a hammer as he tried to stop the suspects. He was not injured.

The suspects fled on their scooters with a quantity of clothing.

Detectives are investigating whether the theft is linked to another attempted smash and grab at a second clothing store on St John's Wood High Street which was reported to police at approximately 01:30hrs.

Six suspects on three scooters smashed the front door but left empty-handed.

Detectives from Westminster CID are investigating.
