Appeal following stabbing in Notting Hill

Detectives from Kensington and Chelsea are appealing for witnesses and information following a stabbing during the early hours of Saturday, 7 October.

Police were called to Portobello Road, W11 at around 00:25hrs to reports of a stabbing.

Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and discovered a man suffering from a stab wound to his neck.

He was taken to a west London hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Officers believe that an attempt was made by a female driver to run the victim over before a male passenger jumped out of the car, chased the victim and stabbed him in the neck as the victim lay on the floor. The suspect then ran back to the car, which drove off north on Portobello Road.

A 34-year-old man [A] and [B] 36-year-old woman were subsequently arrested at an address in Shepherds Bush in connection with the incident. The man was Tasered by officers after threatening them with a knife.

The pair were taken into custody at a west London police station. [B] was released under investigation. [A] was charged.

DC Lindy Casson, from Kensington and Chelsea CID said: “This was a particularly violent attack during what would have been a busy time even at that hour as Portobello Road has a vibrant night time economy. I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw the suspect vehicle – a blue Peugeot - in the area before or after the incident to contact us on 020 8246 0186.”
