Appeal for witnesses to fatal collision

Detectives are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision in Westminster.

Police were called at around 22:50hrs on Tuesday, 18 December to reports of a collision between a bus and a pedestrian on Vauxhall Bridge Road near the junction with Wilton Road.

Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and found the pedestrian, a man aged 71, suffering from head injuries.

He was taken to hospital by London's Air Ambulance where he sadly died on Thursday, 20 December.

No arrests have been made.

Police are now urging anyone who saw the incident or has information to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Andy Russell, of the Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This accident occurred on a busy bus route and we know there were other pedestrians around as well as people travelling in cars and buses.

"Anyone who was in the area at the time and who may be able to help us establish exactly what happened should call us on 020 8543 5157."
