Arrest in Joao Ricardo Gomes murder, Enfield

Detectives investigating the murder of Joao Ricardo Gomes in Enfield have made an arrest.

A 14-year-old boy [A] was arrested on the afternoon of Tuesday, 23 May on suspicion of murder. He was subsequently released under investigation.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command continue to investigate.

On Saturday, 13 May police were called shortly after 22:30hrs to a fight involving a number of people on Hertford Road, Enfield.

Officers attended and found an 18-year-old Joao suffering from stab injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination held on Wednesday, 16 May gave cause of death as a stab wound to the chest.

A 19-year-old man (Victim 2) and a 17-year-old male youth (Victim 3) were found nearby on Palmers Lane, also suffering from stab injuries. They were taken to hospitals by London Ambulance Service and have since been discharged.
