Police are investigating a fatal stabbing in Kingsland Road, Hackney on Saturday, 24 November.
Officers arrested an 18-year-old female [A] on suspicion of assisting an offender. She has been bailed to return on a date in mid-December, pending further enquiries. There have been no other arrests and enquiries continue.
26-year-old Zakaria Bukar Sharif Ali, 26, was fatally injured in Kingsland Road on the morning or Saturday, 24 November. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, he died from his injuries two hours later.
He has been formally identified by family.
Detective Inspector Rita Tierney, who is leading the investigation, said: "Zakaria was attacked following a night out. After leaving the Rolling Stock bar, he tried to intervene in an altercation taking place outside. He was attempting to calm the incident and was stabbed as a result."
Following initial enquiries police are keen to identify two suspects:
Suspect One is described as an olive skinned male, of Mediterranean appearance, aged in his 20s, about 5ft 10ins of stocky build with short dark hair.
Suspect Two is described as a white male, about 6ft tall, of heavy build, with fair-ginger hair and a fluffy beard.
DI Tierney added: "This is a busy and popular area of London. I know that there are people who witnessed the incident or have information concerning the identity of the suspects. I urge those people to call the incident room without delay.
"My officers are currently reviewing CCTV and forensic enquiries are underway, but we need help from the public to fill in the gaps – what was the sequence of events that began with a night out and ended in Zakaria's tragic death?"
Police were called to Kingsland Road, near the junction with Waterson Street, E2, at 06:29hrs on Saturday, 24 November to reports of an injured man.
Officers, London's Air Ambulance and the London Ambulance Service attended and found Zakaria Bukar Sharif Ali suffering from stab injuries.
He was taken to a central London hospital in a critical condition. He died from his injuries at 08:39hrs.
A post-mortem gave provisional cause of death as a stab wound to the abdomen.
