UPDATE 22:40hrs

To prevent further crime and disorder two containments are in place in the vicinity of St Martin's Place, Trafalgar Square and Parliament Street, Whitehall.

At this stage, 28 arrests have been made, most for public order offences.

Three officers have been taken to hospital with injuries sustained policing the protests, the injuries sustained are not believed to be life-threatening.

A man has been arrested for assaulting a police officer in connection with one of the incidents where an officer was injured (no further details at this stage). The man is in custody at central London police station.

Police were called at approximately 19:50hrs on Thursday, 5 November to reports of a police car on fire in Queen Anne’s Gate, SW1. This was an unattended, parked police car in a side street.

This was an isolated incident with a small number of people involved, away from the main protests.

Officers and the London Fire Brigade attended. The fire was extinguished and recovery has been arranged.

No officers were injured.

Enquiries continue, no arrests at this stage.

At approximately 14:25hrs on Thursday, 5 November officers on patrol in Trafalgar Square observed three men acting suspiciously. 

Officers conducted a stop and search under Section 1 PACE and recovered a range of items including knives, smoke and paint grenades, gas canisters and lock picks. 

The three men [A - 38ys; B - 55ys; C - 50ys] were arrested on suspicion of being in possession of offensive weapons and taken to a central London police station where they remain in custody.
