Cyclist who died in Islington collision named as detectives appeal for information

A cyclist who died following a collision with a car in Islington has been named as detectives continue in their appeal for information.

Police were called at around 00:20hrs on Friday, 6 July to reports of a car in collision with a cyclist on Goswell Road at the junction with Percival Street, EC1.

The cyclist, a 38-year-old man, was taken by the London Ambulance Service to a north London hospital in a critical condition.

He died on Wednesday, 11 July and has now been formally identified as Soren Aarlev, 38, of Haggerston.

His next of kin have been informed.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene; he was not arrested.

Enquiries remain ongoing.

Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw the collision take place or has moving footage.
