A detective constable has been dismissed without notice following a special case hearing.

DC Matthew Davies, attached to South East Borough Command Unit, answered allegations that his conduct amounted to a breach of the standards of professional behaviour in respect of 'discreditable conduct, honesty and integrity and orders and instructions.'

On 20 November 2018, DC Davies was convicted following a guilty plea of being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle whilst being over the legal limit on 16 June 2018. It was also alleged that DC Davies failed to declare he was a police officer when arrested and failed to register a business interest namely working as a black cab driver.

The hearing concluded on Friday, 15 March and all the allegations were proven.

This officer will be placed on a barred list preventing future employment within the police and other specified law enforcement bodies.
