A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a woman in Dagenham.
Police were called by London Ambulance Service to a residential address at Rutland Gardens, Dagenham at 1337hrs on Saturday, 9 June.
At the address a 50-year-old woman was found with a number of injuries.
She was taken to Queens Hospital, Romford, where she never regained consciousness and was sadly pronounced dead at 1750hrs on Tuesday, 12 June.
Next of kin are aware and officers can now name the deceased as 50-year-old, Gitana Matukeviciene who was originally from Lithuania.
Police arrested a 52-year-old man at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder.
On Monday, 11 June, Dmitrij Platov, 52 (11.11.65) from Dagenham, was charged with attempted murder and remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, 13 June where he was further remanded to appear at the same court on Monday, 9 July.
The investigation is being conducted by officers from East Area Command Unit in partnership with the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command.
No other persons are sought in connection with this incident.
