Detectives investigating a fatal stabbing in Edmonton have arrested a 16-year-old male on suspicion of murder and violent disorder.
The teenager arrested attended hospital for treatment and has now been taken to a north London police station for questioning.
A murder investigation continues after a 20-year-old man was fatally stabbed at Cavendish Road, Edmonton.
Police were called at 1833hrs on Wednesday, 27 June to reports of an altercation between males armed with baseball bats.
Officers, London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance attended.
At the scene a 20-year-old male had suffered stab injuries. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene at 1920hrs.
The victim's next-of-kin have been informed.
A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
The Homicide and Major Crime Command are now investigating.
A crime scene is in place with additional scenes at Brettenham Road and Cameron Close.
At this early stage officers retain an open mind as to motive.
Extra police will be on patrol in and around the area speaking to locals and working in partnership with the local community.
Detective Inspector Paul Considine, who is leading the investigation, said: “This is another tragic loss of young life and I am urgently appealing to anyone with information to get in touch.
“We believe there were a number of other young men involved in the altercation which sadly led to this man’s death. Those responsible must be caught and brought to justice.
“Any information passed to police will be treated with the strictest confidence.”
