Investigation following fatal house fire in Orpington

Detectives investigating death of woman after Orpington house fire.

Police were called to an address in Cray Avenue at 23.14hrs on Monday, 28 May to assist the London Fire Brigade (LFB) who were dealing with a fire.

A 45-year-old woman was discovered; she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.

Three other people were also taken to hospital – a 44-year-old man, who is in a life-threatening condition, an 11-year-old girl and a 17-year-old male. Their injuries are not life-threatening.

The occupants of the house are believed to be family members.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is being conducted, led by the South Area Command Unit and the LFB.
