Investigation into unexplained death in Croydon

An investigation has been launched after the body of a woman was found at the rear of a block of flats in Croydon.

Police were called to St Andrews Road, Croydon at 0924hrs on Tuesday, 19 June to reports of a body found.

Officers attended and found the body of a 43-year-old woman at the rear of Flagon Court, a low rise apartment block. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her next-of-kin have been informed.

Detectives have arrested a 55-year-old male in connection with the incident. He was taken to a south London police station and bailed pending further enquiries.

A post mortem was carried out on 21 June at Croydon hospital, and gave the cause of death as injuries consistent with falling from a height.

Officers from Croydon CID are leading the investigation. At this early stage the death is being treated as unexplained.
