A man who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in Brixton has been bailed.
Police continue to appeal for any witnesses or information following the incident that saw officers called at 00:30hrs on Saturday, 12 January to Brixton Hill, at the junction with New Park Road, following reports a car in collision with a pedestrian.
In addition to officers responding to the call, the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance attended the location.
Despite their best efforts the pedestrian, a 24-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Next of kin have been informed. Formal identification awaits.
A post-mortem examination commenced on Monday, 14 January.
Detectives investigating the incident circulated the image of a 27-year-old man they wished to speak with. He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after attending a south London police station on Monday, 14 January.
The car, a blue VW Golf, believed to have been involved in the incident was recovered in the Brixton area on Sunday, 13 January.
The man has been bailed until mid-February.
