Man arrested in Folkestone released under investigation

A man arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences as part of an investigation by the Met's Counter Terrorism Command has been released under investigation.

Officers arrested the 42-year-old man under section 5 of the Terrorism Act, 2006. He was arrested in Folkestone at approximately 00:50hrs on Tuesday, 1 May, as he arrived into the UK from France on a coach.

The arrest related to the Syrian conflict.

He was detained under PACE and taken to a police station in Kent, from where he was released under investigation later on 1 May.
