A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being questioned by detectives following the fatal stabbing of a teenage girl at an address in Camberwell.
Police were called at 12:16hrs on Thursday, 12 July to a residential address on Brisbane Street to reports of a stabbing.
The London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance also attended. Despite their best efforts, a 17-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene at 13:02hrs.
Her next of kin have been made informed.
A post-mortem examination will be held in due course. Formal identification awaits.
A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder at the scene and is currently in custody at a south London police station.
Officers understand that the suspect and victim were known to each other.
A weapon has also been recovered.
A crime scene remains in place at the address.
The Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC) are investigating along with officers from Southwark.
A/DCI Domenica Catino from the HMCC said: “A young woman has been fatally attacked and a 21-year-old man arrested at the scene. The suspect continues to be questioned by detectives and detailed enquiries including forensic analysis continues.”
