Man arrested on suspicion of terrorism offence - UPDATE

A 39-year-old man arrested at Stansted Airport by the Met Police Counter Terrorism Command has been bailed to return to a police station later this month.

Officers from the Eastern Region Specialist Operations Unit stopped the man at Stansted Airport on 27 February, under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

Met police counter terrorism detectives subsequently arrested the man on suspicion of arranging funds or property for the purposes of terrorism, contrary to Section 17 of the Terrorism Act 2000 at approximately 23:40hrs.

The man, who was arrested under the Police and Crime Evidence Act, was taken into custody at a south London police station.
