A man has been jailed for three years for drug offences following an investigation by the Met's Central North Command Unit.

Ervine Kimpalu, 20 (25.02.99), Cromer Street, Kings Cross, was sentenced to three years imprisonment at Blackfriars Crown Court on Friday, 18 October, having pleaded guilty to two counts of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and two counts of possession of criminal property (cash).

He was also issued with a five year Criminal Behaviour Order, with the following conditions: Not to possess articles linked to drug dealing; Not to possess more than one mobile phone and which needs to be registered with Immobilise.com; Not to refer to a number of words when rapping and posting videos online including: bandoe, trapping, Booj, connect, shotting, whipping, and Kitty – [all drug-related references]

Kimpalu had featured in videos posted to social media under the guise of his rap name ‘Rico Racks’ in which he glamourised drug dealing.

In June 2018, officers executed warrants under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act at various addresses in Camden.

Officers discovered £3000 in cash in one property linked to Kimpaulu.

Kimpalu was not arrested at this time and an investigation began.

In May 2019, officers executed another warrant at Kimpalu’s home address and discovered over £5000 in cash, and a further £3000 in a safe. A number of mobile phones believed to be used in drug dealing were found, as well as class A drugs believed to have a street value of around £7000.

Kimpalu was arrested and released on bail. He was charged in June 2019 and remanded.

Detective Constable Arif Sheikh, of Central North, said: “This sentence should send out a message to others involved in drug dealing that they will be caught and face the full force of the law.”
