Man jailed for five years for aggravated burglary in Stanmore

A man from London who tried to evade justice following an aggravated burglary in Stanmore last year has been jailed.

Clinton Noel, aged 36, of no fixed abode, was arrested on 18 May in Northampton, after being stopped by police in a stolen vehicle.

He was then charged with burglary with intent to steal and one count of actual bodily harm.

He was sentenced on 7 December after he was found guilty of both charges following a two week trial on 9 November.He received a custodial sentence of five years and six months at Harrow Crown Court.

On Thursday, 15 June 2017 man in his 40s heard a knock on his front door in Ventnor Avenue, Stanmore at about 09:00hrs.

When he opened the door, Noel was with an unknown man and the victim was assaulted with a stun gun.

The victim fell to the floor and was repeatedly punched and kicked by both Noel and the unknown man. 

He was taken to a north London hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Detective Constable Barry Holland of Harrow CID led the investigation. He said:

“Noel went on the run for eleven months following this awful incident and will now be spending the festive season and far beyond in prison.

“I hope this result brings some comfort to the victim who was assaulted on his own doorstep.

“The victim and his family are still finding it difficult to cope with what happened that morning.

“Before Noel’s arrest we released a CCTV image in connection with the incident. We would still like to trace the other person in this image and would ask anyone with information about their identity to come forward.
