Man jailed for malicious communication offences

A 43-year-old man has been sentenced to three months in prison after being found guilty of malicious communications offences.

Omega Mwaikambo, 43, (21.05.74) of Testerton Walk, W11 pleaded guilty at Westminster Magistrates' Court today, Friday 16 June, to two counts under s127 of the Communications Act.

He received six weeks in prison for each count, to run consecutively, making a total of twelve weeks (three months).

Mwaikambo was originally arrested near to Latimer Road tube station at around 18:00hrs on Wednesday, 14 June, after he posted images relating to the fire at Grenfell Tower on his Facebook page.

He was taken to a west London police station and subsequently charged as above.
