A man who tried to carry away a woman after an attempt to rape her has been sentenced
Witnesses described how Jakub Kowalczyk, 35 (18.12.81) of Argyle Road, W13 was seen to throw the sobbing victim over his shoulder.
Kowalczyk was sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court on Thursday, 20 April to six years' imprisonment.
He pleaded guilty to the offence at the same court on Thursday, 23 March.
At about 01:00hrs Sunday, 12 February in Mattock Lane, W5, the 41-year-old-victim was attacked by Kowalczyk.
The victim's cries for help alerted people in a nearby premises, who saw Kowalczyk carrying out the attack.
The witnesses saw Kowalczyk in the shrubbery of a front garden pinning the victim to the ground.
A witness then phoned police as she could see the man was attempting to rape the woman.
Other people alerted by the disturbance then saw Kowalczyk emerge from the undergrowth carrying the victim over his shoulders.
Another member of the public, who was passing on foot, shouted out at Kowalczyk and he stopped the attack and put the victim down.
It was at this point that officers arrived and Kowalczyk was pointed out to them
Kowalczyk ran off, but officers gave chase and he was finally detained and arrested.
The victim was not injured, but was left distressed and requiring medical assistance.
Kowalczyk was charged on Monday, 13 February.
