Officers are appealing for assistance in tracing a man who has been sentenced in his absence to 12 years’ imprisonment for a serious stabbing.
Danny Vernon was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court on 19 September having been convicted of causing GBH with intent.
He was charged on 29 November 2018 with stabbing a 32-year-old man in Oxford Street on 30 September 2017. The victim of that attack was discharged from hospital, having been treated for stab wounds to his back and face, leaving him with a serious facial scar.
Having been charged, Vernon appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 27 December 2018. He was bailed ahead of a trial at Southwark Crown Court, where he failed to appear on 5 August 2019.
Officers believe Danny Vernon knows he is wanted by police and is taking steps to avoid apprehension. He has links to the SW19 area of London and to Bournemouth in Dorset.
