A serving Met officer based at Hammersmith and Fulham borough has been convicted of assault by beating.
PC Thomas Lennon appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday, 25 May where he was found guilty of the offence.
PC Lennon was off-duty at the time of the offence which occurred at West Brompton station on Tuesday, 10 July 2017.
During the incident, PC Lennon assaulted another man causing minor injuries.
The judge concluded that PC Lennon was not acting in self-defence and that his use of force was not proportionate or necessary in the circumstances.
He has now been bailed to appear before Westminster Magistrates Court on 8 June for sentencing.
The officer remains on restricted duties. Misconduct proceedings will be considered following the conclusion of criminal proceedings.
