Misconduct proceedings against a former officer have concluded.
It was alleged that former PC Oliver Ferguson, who was attached to the South West BCU, breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of: Duties & Responsibilities, Discreditable Conduct, Use of Force and Honesty and Integrity.
It was alleged that on 29 August 2017 former PC Ferguson was off duty and made an arrest after having become involved in a dispute regarding a vehicle parked in a private car park.
It was alleged that there were no reasonable grounds for believing the arrest was necessary and the arrest was not lawful.
The allegations were found to be proven as gross misconduct.
Former PC Ferguson resigned in March 2018.
The decision by the Chair and panel was that he would have been dismissed without notice had he still been a serving officer.
