Murder investigation launched after the death of a man in Shoreditch

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Shoreditch, Hackney.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) at 12:39hrs on Sunday, 19 March to reports of an unresponsive man at a block of flats on the Cranston Estate, N1.

Officers attended and the 26-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

Formal identification and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course. While cause of death has not been confirmed, the victim had not been shot or stabbed.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC) led by Detective Chief Inspector Sam Price are investigating.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody at an east London police station.
