Murder investigation launched in Greenwich

Detectives investigating the death of a woman in Abbey Wood have launched a murder investigation.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 04:22hrs on Sunday, 15 April to a seriously injured woman at an address on Sewell Road, SE2.

Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended. The 18-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

She has been formally identified as Natasha Hill. Her next-of-kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination commenced on Sunday, 15 April. A preliminary cause of death has been given as head injuries, but the investigation continues.

Detectives from Greenwich CID, with the assistance of the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC), originally led the investigation and the death was being treated as unexplained.

As a result of the enquiries carried out by officers, primacy of the investigation was handed over to the HMCC on Thursday, 12 July and a murder investigation was launched.

A 32-year-old man was arrested at the scene on Sunday, 15 April on suspicion of murder. He was bailed to a date in mid-July. He has since been re-bailed to a date in mid-October

The suspect and the victim were known to each other.
