A man arrested in connection with the murder of a 20-year-old man in Hackney has been released under investigation as police continue to appeal for information.
The 25-year-old was arrested on Tuesday, 14 November at his home address on suspicion of murder.
Police were called by the London Ambulance Service to reports of a stabbing at Monteagle Way on the Nightingale Estate, E5 at around 00:01hrs on Tuesday, 14 November.
At the scene, the 20-year-old victim was treated by medical professionals for a stab wound to the chest. Sadly, he died at the scene at 00:15hrs.
Detectives know the identity of the victim and next of kin have been notified. However, formal identification has not taken place.
A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
A crime scene has been established and local road closures are in place. Officers anticipate significant traffic disruption in the area surrounding the crime scene. Road users are advised to avoid the area where possible and use alternative routes.
At this early stage officers retain an open mind regarding motive.
The Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating and are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the vicinity of Monteagle Way and the Nightingale Estate at around midnight on Monday, 13 November into Tuesday, 14 November.
