Police make two further arrests in Islington murder case

Detectives investigating the murder of Jonathan McPhillips in Islington have made two further arrests.

A 19-year-old man [B] was arrested on Thursday, 16 March on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at this time.

A 45-year-old woman [C] was also arrested on Thursday, 16 March on suspicion of assisting an offender and remains in custody.

On Saturday, 4 March a 24-year-old man [A] was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was bailed pending further enquires to a date in mid-April. Enquires continue.

On Saturday, 25 February at around 00:40hrs, police were called by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) to reports of a stabbing in Upper Street, N1.

Shortly after this, police were alerted to a second stabbing victim, also in Upper Street.

Father-of-two Jonathan, 28, was found injured and taken to an east London hospital where he later died on Wednesday, 1 March. His next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination gave cause of death as single stab wound to the chest.

The second victim, a 17-year-old boy was also taken to an east London hospital and has since been discharged.

The Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC) led by Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams are investigating.
