Detectives investigating a rape in south-east London have released an image of a man they would like to trace as part of their investigation.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, reported being raped by a man in Millwood Road, Bromley in the early hours of Saturday, 30 September.

Just after midnight, she had got off a bus nearby and, as she entered the alleyway running between Brantwood Way and Millwood Road, she thought she was being followed. As she walked through the alleyway she was attacked from behind and raped.

The CCTV from Millwood Road shows a man walking away from the alleyway some minutes after the incident. At this stage, the man shown in the CCTV is being treated as a potential witness to the attack.

Detectives from the Met's Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command investigate.

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.

DC James White, who leads the investigation, said: "This incident took place in a secluded area, and the attack has left the woman traumatized by her ordeal.

"We are releasing an image of a man that we believe may have information that could assist us with our investigation.

"He may be a significant witness and we would ask him, and anyone else who was in the area at just after midnight on Saturday, 30 September, to come forward and speak to us."

Anyone with information is urged to call the witness line on 07990 793471 between 08:00hrs and 22:00hrs.

Alternatively call police on 101, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
