Renewed appeal following fatal collision

Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command continue to appeal for witnesses following a fatal collision in south east London.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at around 00:45hrs on Saturday, 23 September to reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian on Mayow Road, SE26, near its junction with De Frene Road.

The collision is believed to have taken place approximately 15 minutes earlier.

The pedestrian, a 44-year-old man, was taken to a south London hospital with head injuries. He died during the evening of Saturday, 23 September.

Next of kin have been informed, however we await formal identification.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

The male driver of the car, a silver Vauxhall Corsa, stopped at the scene. He was not arrested.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based at Catford are investigating.
