Detectives are appealing for the occupant(s) of a white van who may have witnessed a fatal collision in Woolwich to contact police.

Officers investigating the collision do not believe that the van was involved in the collision but believe the driver could be an important witness.

Police were called at approximately 22:15hrs on Tuesday, 11 December to reports of a pedestrian in collision with a car on Woolwich Road, near the junction of Warspite Road, SE18.

The London Ambulance Service also attended and the pedestrian, a 52-year-old man, was taken to a south London hospital where he died at 03:06hrs.

Next of kin have been informed; formal identification awaits.

The car involved in the collision stopped at the scene.

Officers are appealing for the occupant(s) of a white van that was seen driving westbound along Woolwich Road at the same time of the collision.

Police urge them to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8285 1574.

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
