Serving Met officer found guilty of harassment

A serving Metropolitan Police Service officer has been found guilty of harassment.

Trainee Detective Constable Debra Mackrell, attached to Central East Command Unit, appeared at Inner London Crown Court on Wednesday, 4 December for sentencing.

T/DC Mackrell was found guilty of one count of harassment on Tuesday, 24 September after a trial at the same court. 

The officer was sentenced to a 12-month conditional discharge and issued with a restraining order.

She was found not guilty of stalking following the trial which began on Monday, 16 September.

T/DC Mackrell was arrested in June 2017, and charged via postal requisition in December 2018.

The allegations were made between October 2016 and March 2019, and relate to one male victim. 

The officer remains on restricted duties. Now that criminal proceedings have been completed, this will be reviewed by the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards.
