Serving police officer charged with assault

A serving police officer has been charged following an allegation of assault.

Police Constable Anthony Walters, based on the Central West Command Unit, was served with a postal charge requisition to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 10 April for the charge of common assault by beating.

He was notified of this decision on Wednesday, 20 March.

The charge follows an investigation by the Met's Directorate of Professional Standards relating to an allegation of assault that took place while PC Walters was on duty in Westminster on Monday, 15 October 2018.

The officer is currently on restricted duties.
