Serving police officer charged with common assault

A serving police officer has been charged with common assault.

Police Constable Connor Pennery, 27 who is attached the Met’s Territorial Support Group at Chadwell Heath, was charged by postal charge requisition on Monday, 12 August.

He will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 29 August.

The charges relate to an alleged assault at a demonstration at the Haymarket, Central London on Saturday, 16 February, 2019.

The officer is currently on restricted duties.

The charges follow an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
