Teenager charged over Mill Hill murder

Detectives investigating the murder of a shop worker who was seriously assaulted in Mill Hill have charged a 16-year-old boy.

The boy [A] from Brent borough was charged on the evening of Tuesday, 9 January with the murder of Vijay Patel.

This follows his arrest on Monday, 8 January.

He is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 10 January.

Police were called at about 23:45hrs on Saturday, 6 January by the London Ambulance Service to reports of a man injured on The Broadway, NW7.

The man was found lying injured on the pavement outside a convenience shop. He was taken to a central London hospital where he subsequently died at 19:01hrs on Monday, 8 January.

While formal identification awaits, officers are satisfied the deceased is Mr Patel, who lived in the Colindale area.

The Homicide and Major Crime Command continue to investigate and appeal for information about the events leading up to the incident which resulted in Mr Patel's death. It is believed that three people were involved in the incident.
