Appeal after female cyclist seriously injured in Hackney collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was seriously injured in a collision in Hackney.

Officers were called at approximately 15:30hrs on Wednesday, 25 July to reports of a cyclist in collision with a lorry on Old Street roundabout, EC1.

Officers attended along with colleagues from the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade.

The female cyclist, aged in her 30s, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. She remains in a critical but stable condition.

Her next-of-kin are aware.

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their enquiries.

No arrests have been made.

Officers from the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command (RTPC) are investigating.

Detective Constable Amy Trencher, who is leading the investigation, said: “The collision took place in a busy area and I am confident that someone saw the incident take place.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has footage of the incident to help us build a picture of what happened.”
