UPDATE: Appeal following collision in Upminster

Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) continue to appeal for witnesses following a collision in Upminster.

Police were called at 11:15hrs on Monday, 25 October to reports of the theft of a van in Hall Lane, Upminster.

As officers attended the van was in collision with other vehicles.

Two men, who were both occupants of the van, were taken to hospital.

A 32-year-old man – believed to be the driver of the van – died in hospital on Saturday, 30 October as a result of his injuries. His next of kin have been informed; formal identification awaits.

A second man, aged in his late 50s who was thought to be the passenger in the van, was discharged following treatment.

No other party was reported injured during the collision

Any witnesses, particularly anyone with dash cam or film footage, are asked to call detectives from the SCIU based at Chadwell Heath on 0208 597 4874.
