Appeal for witnesses to fatal collision in Croydon

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal collision in Croydon.

Police were called shortly after 18:00hrs on Tuesday, 30 August to a collision involving an ambulance and a motorcycle at the junction of Purley Way and Edgehill Road.

The ambulance was en route to an emergency call at the time of the collision; its crew provided first aid.

Officers responded with the London Fire Brigade and London's Air Ambulance.

Despite their efforts, the rider - a man, believed to be aged in his 50s – sadly died at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating.

There have been no arrests. Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
