Appeal for witnesses to stabbing in Mitcham

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Mitcham.

Police were called at 17:30hrs on Monday, 20 July to reports of an assault on Upper Green East.

Officers attended but there was no trace of a victim.

Police were called a short time later to a south London hospital after a man, aged in his early 30s, self-presented with stab injuries.

He remains in hospital in a stable condition; his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Detectives would like to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time of the stabbing. 

The assault spilled out on to a busy road, and was close to a parade of shops. It would it have been witnessed by a large number of people.

Detectives are also keen to hear from anyone who may have captured footage of the assault on dash cam or mobile phone.

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
