Appeal to trace man wanted in connection with Newham stabbing

Detectives are appealing for the public’s help to trace a man wanted in connection with a stabbing outside a shop in Newham.

Police were called at 23:19hrs on Saturday, 27 April to reports of a stabbing outside of a commercial premises in Barking Road, E13

Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and found a man, aged 19, suffering from a stab injury.

He was taken to an east London hospital where his injuries were declared not life-changing or life-threatening.

Three men, aged 31 [A], 20 [B] and 30 [C] and one woman, aged 34 [D] were arrested at the scene on suspicion of obstructing police and taken into custody.

They were later released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Detectives from the North East area’s CID are investigating.

Enquiries are ongoing to trace Halil Ates, 40 (09.05.78), who is wanted on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He is described as Turkish, 5ft 10ins, of stocky build, with short wavy hair and a moustache. He has scar marks on his right arm.
