The funeral of Sergeant Matt Ratana will take place on Wednesday, 4 November at 11:30 GMT.
The service will be led by the Reverend Prebendary Jonathan Osborne MBE, Senior Chaplain, Metropolitan Police Service, and Maori speaker the Venerable Jo Kelly-Moore, Archdeacon of Canterbury.
Speakers at the service will represent family, friends and police colleagues, including a tribute by Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick.
Due to Covid restrictions we are unable to provide a force “service” funeral, however a full “service” memorial will be planned for when Covid restrictions have been lifted. To ensure colleagues, friends and family from the UK, New Zealand and around the world can join the event a live broadcast is available.
The event broadcast will go live at approximately 11:25 GMT.
Matt’s partner and son have asked for their privacy to be respected at this time and do not wish to provide any interviews to the media.
Content broadcast from the service will be made available afterwards.
Following the service there will be a private cremation service.
+ Met officers and staff watching the service have specific instructions on how to access the event broadcast. Guidance has been published on the Met’s Intranet.
