Man charged with homophobic assault in Brixton

A man has been charged following a homophobic attack in Brixton.

Jabbard Mabounda – 31 (12.05.92) of Crosby Walk, SW2 will appear in custody at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 29 September charged with:

- one count of racially/religiously aggravated ABH;
- two counts of racially/religiously aggravated assault by beating.

This relates to an incident on Brixton Road, SW9 at approximately 22:30hrs on 19 August.

Two men were standing at a bus stop when they were assaulted by another man. The two men went to hospital for treatment to their injuries before being discharged.

Both victims are being supported by a dedicated LGBT+ Community Liaison Officer. Their role is to support individuals who have been involved in hate crimes towards the LGBT+ community.
