UPDATED: Man charged with trespassing following incident near Buckingham Palace

A man has been charged with trespassing on a protected site after he was arrested in the Royal Mews area adjacent to Buckingham Palace.

The charge relates to an incident at 01:25hrs on Saturday, 16 September, when officers at Buckingham Palace responded to a person climbing the wall and entering the Royal Mews.

Awad Mustafa, 25 (16.12.97) of, no fixed abode, has also been charged with attempted theft from a motor vehicle during the same incident.

He appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday, 18 September and was remanded in custody to appear at the same court on 25 September.
