A man has been jailed for assaulting a nurse at an east London hospital.
Prince Isaac Walker, 32 (12.09.88) of no fixed address was charged on Thursday, 21 January with assault on an emergency worker. He appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Friday, 22 January where he entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to 26 weeks imprisonment.
In the early hours of Thursday, 21 January, officers were in attendance at an east London hospital when they were made aware that a nurse had been assaulted in the A&E department.
Officers quickly detained the man and arrested him. Prince Isaac Walker was taken to an east London police station and was charged later that day.
The 36-year-old female nurse lost consciousness following the assault and required treatment. Her injuries were not life threatening.
PC Kyri Soupashis, the investigating officer, said: “This was a needlessly vicious attack on an emergency worker simply doing her job. I hope that the sentence handed down brings the victim a measure of satisfaction and that she is able to recover from what was a very frightening experience.
“There is no justification for assaulting the people who devote their working lives to helping and protecting others, something that Walker will have time to reflect on as he serves his sentence.”
